Power of Prayer
Prayer is a powerful weapon in the hands of LORD-fearing, Bible-believing Christians. Very surely prayer changes things!
In 1st John 5:14-15, the word of the LORD says, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.”
Praying Together
Jesus is shown in Luke as a praying Messiah. Prayer changes us, especially when we pray together with others. There can be no renewal without prayer. Jesus said we should pray for what we want. It is the heartbeat of the Christian and the Christian Community. We learned last week that Jesus prays after His baptism (Luke 3:21) and how important for us to pray. Luke 5:16 But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray. Luke 6:12 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God. Luke 9:18 And it happened that while He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He questioned them, saying, “Who do the people say that I am?”Luke 9:29 Eight days later He took Peter, James, and John and went up on the mountain to pray (9:28), and while praying He was transfigured. Luke 11:1 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.”Luke 22:32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
