Our Mission at Emmanuel Evanston
We members and friends of Emmanuel United Methodist Church recognize our many cultures and see ourselves as connected in ministry to the whole world. We reach out to the diverse immigrant Indian community in Evanston and the greater Chicago Metropolitan area as one, body expressed through many cultures. We are united to offer the gospel to all who will hear it, proclaiming the life of Jesus Christ. Together, we commit ourselves and will encouraging each other to share our lives and to show our care for the Church and the community, with our gifts of time, our money, and our love both online and in person.
Our Belief
God
God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.
LORD Jesus Christ
We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death, and resurrection demonstrate God’s redeeming love.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God’s present activity in our midst. When we sense God’s leading, God’s challenge, or God’s support or comfort, it’s the Holy Spirit at work.
The Church
The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.
The Sacred Scripture
We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for our faith and practice.
God’s Reign
The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope.
