Mission

Our Mission at Emmanuel Evanston

As members and friends of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, we embrace our many cultures and see ourselves as connected in ministry to the entire world. We extend our outreach to the diverse immigrant Indian community in Evanston and the greater Chicago Metropolitan area, united as one body expressed through many cultures.

Our mission is to share the gospel with all who will hear it, proclaiming the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Together, we commit to encouraging one another, sharing our lives, and demonstrating care for the Church and our community. We offer our gifts of time, resources, and love—both online and in person—to fulfill this mission with dedication and faith.

Our Belief

God

God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.

LORD Jesus Christ

We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death, and resurrection demonstrate God’s redeeming love.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God’s present activity in our midst. When we sense God’s leading, God’s challenge, or God’s support or comfort, it’s the Holy Spirit at work.

The Church

The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.

The Sacred Scripture

We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for our faith and practice.

God’s Reign

The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope.
